چکیده

This paper describes an adaptive multicast mechanism for ad hoc networks. The multicast mechanism adopts a two-tier architecture with an adaptive backbone infrastructure to integrate the effectiveness of the flooding scheme and the efficiency of the tree-based scheme for different network conditions. Coverage of a backbone node is not limited to a single hop, but is automatically adjusted according to the mobility status of each local area. Multicast capability is then provided via the construction of rendezvous-based multicast trees in the local group level and a mesh structure over the backbone level, providing both efficiency in static areas and robustness in dynamic areas. Performance evaluations are also presented.

Architectural framework for large-scale multicast in mobile ad hoc networks

Emerging ad hoc networks are infrastructure-less networks consisting of wireless devices with various power constraints, capabilities and mobility characteristics. An essential capability in future ad hoc networks is the ability to provide scalable multicast services. This paper presents a novel adaptive architecture to support multicast services in large-scale wide-area ad hoc networks. Existi...

Distributed Multicast Group Security Architecture

Multicast communication is an efficient means to support key network applications such as real-time teleconferencing and data dissemination. In this paper we devise a security architecture for multicast communications in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Our design is both suitable in MANET environment and compliant to the IETF standard Multicast Group Security Architecture (MGSA) [1]. Because c...

Intuitionistic fuzzy logic for adaptive energy efficient routing in mobile ad-hoc networks

In recent years, mobile ad-hoc networks have been used widely due to advances in wireless technology. These networks are formed in any environment that is needed without a fixed infrastructure or centralized management. Mobile ad-hoc networks have some characteristics and advantages such as wireless medium access, multi-hop routing, low cost development, dynamic topology and etc. In these netwo...

Dynamic agent-based hierarchical multicast for wireless mesh networks

We propose and analyze a multicast algorithm named Dynamic Agent-based Hierarchical Multicast (DAHM) for wireless mesh networks that supports user mobility and dynamic group membership. The objective of DAHM is to minimize the overall network cost incurred. DAHM dynamically selects multicast routers serving as multicast agents for integrated mobility and multicast service management, effectivel...

Hierarchical multicast techniques and scalability in mobile Ad Hoc networks

Many potential applications of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) involve group communications among the nodes. Multicasting is an useful operation that facilitates group communications. Efficient and scalable multicast routing in MANETs is a difficult issue. In addition to the conventional multicast routing algorithms, recent protocols have adopted the following new approaches: overlays, backbone...
